Spreadsheets. My life if a spreadsheet, but they did help.

My biggest tips would be to budget and to do a lot of research.  I put so much money into savings. It's like 70% of my income.  I think the first $10,000's the hardest.

Talk to your friends, talk to your parents, talk to anyone that has gone through the process.  Bringing in someone independent stops you from acting on I guess an emotional urge.

You need a buffer, the expenses that come up.

Never buying clothes at full price. Don't buy your lunch every day. Yeah, always bring your lunch. That's my big one.
