  • Kyal and Kara's home improvement tips

Kyal and Kara share with us some interior design ideas and how to put the finishing touches on your new or recently renovated home.

We are here today with Kiera who have just recently finished a renovation and is looking for those finishing touches to make her house a home.

I think styling your home is one of the funnest parts.  You've done all the hard work with the renovation and now it's all about the finishing touches.

I love the vintage washed linen look and the really beautiful organic look.  And the good thing about this is it's not too busy, so you can build on that.

You mention you like blue, so we can go with some feature blue cushions on top and over time, if you want to change that look, you can change the look completely using the same base.

    Love it.  Perfect.

So Keira, I think when we're looking for a bedside lamp for you, I think you know with the cushion arrangement, you could definitely go for that up size sort of scale of lamps.  So that's a bit of a tip for the guys at home if they're looking for something like that aswell.  Remember you want to work your cushions and bed head in scale with everything together.

Greenery is a great way to bring that little bit of that living element into the room.  It's the perfect way to make a space feel homely and lived in.  Something like this is great because it's not too structured and it'll go with that organic lived-in look that we are going for.

When styling your bed sides, think about layering.  Start with something like a placemat or a tray and build up from there with some books and personal touches.  It's all about those finishing touches that can make a room feel really warm and lived in.

So I guess when it comes to deciding what sort of roof structure you want I think you really want to consider your existing roof lines and you don't want to do something which opposes that.  So be in keeping with it and maybe consider doing like a a skillion style roof or a cathedral roof.  You want to do something which is sort of rest with the area and doesn't stick out too much.

Today's been great shopping with Keira.  I hope you can take away something from our little shopping trip.

So get out there, get shopping, and we'll see you guys next time on the Great Australian Dream.
