• Long Jetty Reno: Ep 9 - Hub of the Home

Long Jetty Reno is nearly complete! Check out this week's grand reveal of the hub of the home - living and dining.

    Transcript:

I think one of the things I love about this house is the front.  Doesn't really give away how beautiful and grand the house is, so it's not until you walk in, that you get your big surprise.

The front has definitely got that cottage feel.  It ties in well with the street.  It obviously looks beautiful but you don't actually see the scale of, you know, what's inside.

This central kitchen/living/dining area is just going to be the hub of the home.  It's where you're gonna hang out, spend all your time.  The ceiling is 3.6 meters. Yeah.  It's the entertainment space.

We've got the most amazing American oak floors and it was an absolute mission to lay.  It's such a big space and you know, what we decided this time around, we're gonna glue everything down so it just sort of added that time.  But it's well worth the wait, because it's so solid underfoot.  This floor does not budge and it looks stunning.

There is a lot to finish and a lot to style, to get the house on the market.

We finished the media room weeks ago, but we've been waiting patiently, or not so patiently, for this huge oversized doors.  We were excited about this because we felt the door would help to create that multi-purpose feel about that room.  So you can close it off and keep it private, but you can open it up and still be a part of the rest of the house.

We planned to have this massive door so we knew that it wanted to be at least 2 meters wide and again 2.4 high to tie in with the rest of the doors.  It's such a statement piece and it looks really beautiful.

It sounds easy - kitchen, living, dining, hallway, but in reality it's a huge amount of square meters.  It's a big area to cover. I've had my work cut out for me.  We are missing the tap for the outdoor kitchen - Kyal lost the tap for the outdoor kitchen! OMG it is not my fault.  I'm too tired, I don't even have the energy to exist! I am just going to evaporate.

There's a light at the end of the tunnel.  We are almost done.

It's a bit Aztec don't you reckon?  What about this one?

We have used this beautiful silestone.  It's a light and fresh colour, but it's got this subtle pattern.  Sure, that really adds to the coastal palette.  I definitely want to incorporate some rattan in this reno because it's such a coastal feel.

Our mates at Loughlin furniture have nailed the brief, and I just feel like it adds to that relaxed vibe and works really well with timber.  So rattan, for those who don't know, is like a woven cane.  It's all in that finishing details.

This handcrafted Rustica door was well worth the wait.  It was imported from the United States and it is such a statement piece and it looks so decadent. I think this space really commands the higher doors.  Each door is 2.4, your standard doors are only just under 2.1.

Creep your way past the study nook and you are in the hub of the home.

When you first walk into the kitchen/living/dining area, you are greeted by so much natural light.  Highlight windows all around the perimeter of this space.  We have these huge sliding doors and then we have a vault of Velux over the kitchen.

The inside of this house is totally finished off and I couldn't be happier with it.  Babe, you done amazing.  Thank you.

We can't forget about the crowning glory of this house, which is We choose a pool area and finishing off the outdoor landscaping.
